offer to the exhibitors
Dear Sir,
I would hereby like to present you with the new proposals of the Italian
Library Association (AIB) for the year 2002.
I would like first of all to inform you that the Association has opened
a special office for arranging events and for managing
advertizing. This follows a decision to no longer use an agent, in
order to pursue a policy of higher quality and more direct relations
with suppliers.
The following is a list of the activities foreseen for this year with
the relative offers:
Bibliocom 2002
Bibliocom will be held as usual this year in Rome, at the Palazzo dei
Congressi, from 15 to 17 October. Within the sphere of the scientific
exhibition, a summary of which you will find herewith enclosed, the
following events will also take place:
International conference
in cooperation with the Ministry for Cultural Heritage on: New libraries
for new needs: architecture and the challenges of technology (1990-2000)
[Nuove biblioteche per nuovi bisogni: l'architettura di fronte alle
sfide della tecnologia (1990-2000)].
National conference
In the library there's something new, indeed, something ancient. The
historical collections: the access age [C'è qualcosa di nuovo in
biblioteca, anzi di antico. Le collezioni storiche: l'era dell'accesso].
National conference
The making and management of the collection [Formazione e gestione delle
raccolte].
A point of great attraction will be the stand dedicated to the
Library of Alexandria of Egypt, which, as will have been informed,
will be inaugurated very soon.
Furthermore, a poster session will be held during the exhibition.
This will be entitled Architecture and interiors in libraries
[Architettura e interni nelle biblioteche], and will be run by the
libraries who wish to take part. Subjects of the posters can be newly
built libraries, recent or imminent refurbishments, furnishing
interventions of particular note. Posters inherent to these subjects,
even if already proposed on the occasion of other events, can also be
proposed.
I would also like to point out that, as in previous years and following
its success in past editions, the Italian library Association will again
this year offer spaces for organizing the presentation of products or
independent technical seminars free of charge to all those firms who
purchase exhibition space.
The Association has decided this year to inaugurate BIBLIOCOM awards:
awards for libraries and for their promoters, within the sphere of
the international campaign promoted by IFLA @ your libraryTM
which in the Italian version was translated as @lla tua
bibliotecaTM.
For the year 2002 the prizes, for which you will find an attached form,
will be divided into four sections and will be assigned by a sole jury
composed of representatives of libraries and of the world of culture.
Bibliocom 2002 is divided into the following sections:
Biblioteche in vetrina [Libraries on show]
Biblio & tecnologia [Biblio & technology]
Biblio & educazione [Biblio & education]
Nessuno escluso [No one out]
OFFERS
For all those who enrol before June 15th, 2002 there will be no
increase in price with respect to the previous edition.
Furthermore, to the firms who enrol in Bibliotexpo before June 15th,
2002, AIB offers one of the following facilitations:
- an advertising space of ½ page or two quarter pages in 4 colours in
AIB Notizie (monthly newsletter of the Association distributed in
5000 copies to all members) free of charge;
- an advertising space of 1 page in black and white in AIB
Notizie (monthly newsletter of the Association distributed in 5000
copies to all members) free of charge;
- the chance to insert a free of charge advertising brochure in
the folder that will be distributed to the visitors to Bibliocom.
SPONSORING
As you will have already read in the
letter by Poggiali,
this year there will again be the figure of the Official sponsor of
the exhibition, reserved each year to no more than three firms, each
of which operating in a different commodity sector. I would therefore
like to invite the firms interested to contact us before the end of
the May, while reminding them that the programme for Bibliocom 2002,
of which a draft copy is already available and enclosed, will be
officially presented before the end of May.
Figures of specific sponsors for the Conference on
architecture and for the Bibliocom awards are also foreseen.
Here again, should you be interested, you are invited to contact us.
AIB NOTIZIE
Starting from the month of April, the Italian Library Association
presents a renewed version of its periodical AIB Notizie. As
part of a promotion campaign for the periodical (which we would like to
recall always has a minimum circulation of 5,000 copies) we are offering
all those who enrol in Bibliocom the chance to purchase, apart from the
offer for enrolment in Bibliocom, advertizing spaces with a 40%
discount on the list price, for the whole of 2002.
I would like to invite you to carefully examine all the enclosures and
to contact me for any further clarification.
With best wishes.
