The new arrangement of the exhibition, convention and promotional activity of the Italian Library Association

The need to develop a closer relationship between the profession, the libraries, the political institutions, the organizations of the productive world, businesses and citizens has led the AIB to reorganize its profile and its activities bearing in mind the patrimony accumulated during its long history (this year it celebrates 70 years since its foundation) and above all the great prospects that are opening for our profession in the Society of Information and Knowledge in the so-called "New Economy".

The operation sees a strengthening within the dimension of the exhibition Bibliotexpo and a review of the programming of congressions and conventions which form an important part of the activity of the Association.

The exhibition initiative to be known as Bibliocom-Bibliotexpo will be held in the year 2000 in Rome on 25-26-27 October and it will be accompanied by convention and scientific activity of great interest; part of this will be organized and promoted by the enterprises and exhibitors that request it.

Our review is thus confirmed as the most important Italian appointment of the sector and one of the most important in Europe.

Starting from the year 2001, the AIB Conference will be held yearly during the same period (October) in concomitance with Bibliocom-Bibliotexpo.

The transfer to the autumn, to a less crowded period of the year as regards events of the sector, a review of the role of the partner enterprises and opening to the world of the professions of related sectors (schools, archives, museums, Web, etc.), which has grown excessively in recent years, are the characteristics of this new approach from which great results are expected.

We are also preparing a version of Bibliocom-Bibliotexpo to be linked to AIB-WEB in order to be able to offer you a possibility of having a direct line through the AIB with your target for the whole year.

THE EXHIBITION EVENT

Libraries, archives, museums, schools, training centres and universities, producers of contents in every form, businesses and commercial networks, share the innovations and most sophisticated services of the technological revolution. This exhibition, which it is intended to repeat every year in Rome, offers an original view of the potential and interactions between the main protagonists of innovation in the management of products and services of one of the driving sectors of global development.

It is therefore not just a fair of products, but an occasion for comparison and exchange, for building alliances, for programming, a bag full of opportunities.

Our exhibitors are both the great providers of services on the net and the small producers and sellers of technological and organizational solutions, of professional publishing, of functional outsourcing in the management of cultural and educational services and institutions, both at the level of technology, furnishings and equipment, and at that of the provision of professional persons and operators.

The invitation is addressed to protagonists and organizations of the sector in Italy and in Europe, with particular attention to the Mediterranean area.

Firms, public institutions, professional associations, library associations can organize meetings and seminars, poster sessions and events throughout the entire duration of the exhibition.
